Wedding and Special Event Venue

Memorable Weddings/Events

Welcome to the Mansion Summer Estate at Knox Farm State Park, which is managed by The Friends of Knox Farm in partnership with New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

This historic treasure was the summer home of the renowned Knox Family until it was purchased by NYS to be enjoyed as a state park. The Colonial Revival style home was designed by Architects Frank Bell Meade and James Montgomery Hamilton in a simple classic design which exudes restrained elegance. The two story Mansion is 14,000 square feet and sits on 633 acres. The first floor rooms offer unparalleled grace and charm which are used for events, with ancillary rooms upstairs.

This unique venue can be rented for weddings, corporate events, private parties, and fundraising events May through October; it is closed for the winter months.  Check the calendar for availability and the rate schedule. If you see an open date, please check with the Mansion Manager as those dates may have a pending reservation that is not yet complete.

The Mansion at Knox Farm is the perfect setting to create the wedding of your dreams. Plan a delightful afternoon garden party or an elegant affair with all the trimmings.... It's your day and your dream. To bring your vision to reality, we offer you the ability to choose from a host of local  vendors to suit your personal style.  We want you to experience a magical day full of cherished memories, and so we include the following amenities:

Wedding parties have exclusive use of the Mansion and immediate grounds; perfect for both the ceremony and the reception. Only one wedding reception is booked per weekend, and the day before is reserved for your set-up and ceremony rehearsal.

Guests will be immediately impressed as they drive along the historic stone wall and enter the park grounds through the magnificent wrought iron gates off Buffalo Rd. A slow drive through the park brings your guests to a large, lighted parking lot and walkway to the house.  Parking is not allowed in front of the house, but guests can be dropped off at the Mansion entrance door.

The layout of the house can comfortably accommodate up to 150 guests for a sit down dinner, and approximately 250 guests for a station event. A tented reception is not limited. Tent rentals of any size can be set up on Friday. You will have access to all the rooms on the first floor for the reception, plus additional restrooms on the second floor.

Two separate rooms are reserved for the Bridal Party and the Groomsmen to get ready on the big day. This is the perfect opportunity for the photographer to capture 'the getting ready' photos. The grounds are a photographers delight with beautiful, natural settings in the park, the stables and barns, the ponds and, of course, the gardens.

Once you have chosen to celebrate your special day at Knox Farm State Park, you'll want to put all the details in place.  We have prepared a list of local vendors that you may choose from to provide the services unique to your event. If you have a vendor in mind who is not on the list, they will need to be pre-approved by the Mansion Manager and submit the necessary documents. A caterers kitchen is included for use by your vendors.  They will be required to supply the proper health and insurance certificates.

The Friends of Knox Farm State Park is a not-for-profit organization. All proceeds from rentals of the Mansion are used to preserve and renovate this amazing Summer Estate.

Friends of Knox Farm

Friends of Knox Farm State Park, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation. Its primary mission is to promote, support, preserve and protect the recreational facilities, natural habitats, permanent green space and historic and cultural resources of the Knox Farm State Park. The Friends, Inc. encourages and supports educational programs and activities that develop an understanding and appreciation for the Park, nature and the environment.

The Board of Directors of the Friends of Knox Park was successful in their effort to include all of Knox Farm State Park on the Preservation League of New York State's Seven to Save List in 2012. The League chooses only seven endangered, historic properties in all of New York State biennially for the list. The recognition is a testament to the historical, architectural value of all of the buildings in Knox Farm State Park.
